Many people take scabies lightly, dismissing it as just another common skin disease. But its suffering is terrible—life becomes miserable with relentless itching through the night, red rashes, and painful sores. Even more dangerous is its rapid spread from one family member to another. Lack of awareness, delayed treatment due to shame, and unhygienic clothing habits fuel the spread of this disease.Scabies doesn’t just cause physical pain—it leaves deep psychological scars. It affects social interactions, hampers professional productivity, disrupts children’s education, and lowers the daily performance of adults. The good news is that scabies can be completely eradicated. Using the right ointment, treating the entire family at once, and maintaining cleanliness in clothing and bedding are key steps. To prevent outbreaks, regular health check-ups should be introduced in schools and colleges. Free health camps must be organized in both rural and urban areas, and mass awareness campaigns should be launched through newspapers, television, and radio to remove the stigma and misconceptions about this disease.

Scabies is not a disease to be ashamed of. With timely treatment, public awareness, and collective effort, we can eradicate scabies from our communities. The time for prevention is now—not tomorrow, not later.
